Tillandsia ‘Double Ruth’ is a hybrid of the species T. magnusiana and T. compressa by Paul Isley, Tillandsia expert since the 1960s, author of professional literature on Tillandsias and owner of Rainforest Flora Inc. in California, USA T. magnusiana (Mexico to Nicaragua) is a small desert or dry Tillandsia that can tolerate long periods of drought and grows mainly at altitudes of 1100 – 2000 meters. T. compressa is a widespread species (Mexico to Colombia) that also belongs to the gray forms and grows in arid areas at an altitude of 500 – 2000 meters.
This exclusive species occurs in Central America and Mexico.
The double ruth is brought from the farm in Central America to the Corsa Plant location in De Lier.
