Tillandsia Vanhiningii red

Tillandsia Vanhyningii is native to Mexico. There, it grows on steep limestone rocks and cliffs, often in sunny, dry locations.

Tillandsia Vanhyningii forms a distinct stem (caulescent growth), whereas most ionanthas remain compact and rosette-shaped. This air plant has thick, silver-green leaves with many trichomes (the scales with which air plants absorb moisture). Over the years, Vanhyningii can develop a branched, almost “mini-tree-like” form. During flowering, the leaf tips turn red to peach-pink and it produces a purple flower. This can be removed after flowering; this will not affect the quality of the plant.
